The kanji 易 is a combination of 日 and 勿. 日 is the sun

and 勿 is the outline of a streamer. When it is raining, it is

hard to get a streamer to fly. However, on fine days when

the sun is out, it is easy to do. That is why the kanji 易

means easy.
